The terror attack that Hamas launched on Israel on 7th October was a game-changer. It was a game-changer for Palestine, Israel and possibly also for other national and international players. As a result, the support for two-state solution has eroded significantly in Palestine and Israel. We believe it is important to affect the discourse by discussing the prospects of peace and reconciliation between Israel and the Palestinians. It is time to discuss “the day after” the war, when the dust has settled and a new chapter in the relationship between the Jewish and the Palestinian people begins.
The conference featured academics and politicians who discussed pertinent issues: The Hamas-Israel War and its impact on peace and security; Gaza: The day after; possible solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict following the 7 October terror attack; public opinion about the conflict after the Hamas attack; effects on the Abraham Accords and normalisation with Saudi Arabia; relationships with Egypt and Jordan; Gaza-West Bank relations following the Hamas attack; keys for successful negotiations and mediation.
The workshop was held on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, Feldman Building of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Givat Ram campus, Jerusalem.
