You will be arriving at Ben-Gurion Airport, which is located about 40 minutes from Jerusalem. There are several transportation options for arriving in Jerusalem.

  1. Private taxis to Jerusalem can be found as you exit the arrivals terminal (on the left-hand side), and cost between 300-400 NIS. Make sure you take an authorized taxi; they are lined up and take passengers in turn.
  2. Nesher Taxi is a shared door-to-door shuttle service, providing transportation between the airport and Jerusalem. They operate 24/7 (including Saturdays) and drop off passengers in all neighbourhoods in Jerusalem. From the airport to Jerusalem, you do not need to reserve in advance; however, from Jerusalem to the airport it is advised to reserve 12-24 hours in advance by calling +972-26257227. When you exit the arrivals hall, turn right, and walk to the end of the platform where you’ll find the Nesher shuttle station. Have your destination address ready to provide them with. Price is around 70 NIS, cash only (approximately $21). Further information is available on the Nesher Website

The train is closed from 14:56 on Friday until 20:56 on Saturday. Tickets can be bought at the station and cost around 18 NIS. Journey time is approx. 26 minutes. The bus leaves every hour on the hour from 00:00 to 05:00 from Ben-Gurion Airport to Jerusalem, and at the same time from Jerusalem to Ben-Gurion Airport. The closest stop to the Prima Park Hotel is HaLe’om Parking/HaNassi HaShishi Blvd (a 10-minute walk from the hotel). This service costs 16 NIS ($4.50).

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN AND AROUND JERUSALEM

It is easy to get around Jerusalem using public transportation. City buses run frequently, and cost 6 NIS. Rides are paid for using a Rav Kav travel card, and an anonymous Rav Kav card can be bought from the bus driver for 5.00 NIS. Bus drivers do not accept cash to pay for journeys. The travel card can be topped up at top-up machines around the city. There is a light rail that runs east-west through the city, and this also costs 6 NIS per ride. Train tickets must be bought beforehand from the kiosk at the station, and can be paid for using cash or credit card. The ticket must then be validated upon entry to the train. Rav Kav travel cards can also be used on the train. Google Maps or MoovIt are good apps for bus and train options. Public transportation does not run on Shabbat (sunset on Friday until nightfall on Saturday). Taxis may be hailed on the street, or ordered ahead of time (also on Shabbat). The Gett taxi app works well in Jerusalem, or you can call a cab company such as Gilo Taxis: 052-3456702.
