Research Question

This multidisciplinary program marks twenty years since a similar event took place at the IAS in 1987/88. The program twenty years ago brought together a number of leading scholars in physics and biology and, combined with two international workshops, constitute the formative events in the development of Computational Neuroscience. These events led to the establishment of the Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation at The Hebrew University, serving as a model for similar centers at leading institutions throughout the world. There are not many programs that have played as signficant a role in the emergence of an academic discipline as the IAS program and workshops held in 1987/88.

This group will assess, in a detailed manner, the achievements of computational neuroscience over the past 20 years, and to map future territories of application and interaction with experimentalists.
