Aner is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests are: finite simple groups and probabilistic methods, finite permutation groups, profinite groups, pro-p groups , p-adic analytic groups; Rings and Lie algebras; Lie methods in group theory.
